Hiab haulage · Watford · UK-wide

We bring
the crane.

Hiab-equipped flatbed lorry, Hertfordshire-based. The crane on the back loads and unloads itself, so you don’t need a forklift or a lift gang at either end. Driveways, plant yards, narrow lanes, soft ground, wherever the load has to land.

What the Hiab does

Loads itself. Unloads itself. Lands the load where you actually need it.

01

Hiab crane delivery

The headline job. Crane mounted behind the cab loads at the depot and places on site. No forklift needed at either end.

02

Plant & machinery

Mini-diggers, compressors, generators, pumps, scissor lifts. We pick up and place where you need it, including up over walls and fences.

03

Building materials

Bricks, blocks, bagged aggregate, sand, lintels, scaffold. Lifted off the truck and placed by the back door, not dumped on the kerb.

04

Pallets without a forklift

The standard pallet courier needs a forklift on site. We do not. Restricted-access deliveries to homes, small yards and remote sites.

05

Hot tubs, sheds, garden buildings

Awkward, heavy, hard to place by hand. Classic Hiab work. Up to 2 tonnes lifted over a 6ft fence and set down on the patio.

06

Restricted-access jobs

Soft ground. Narrow lanes. No loading bay. If the standard wagon can’t, the Hiab usually can.

Why a Hiab

Because most loads aren’t best dumped on the kerb.

01

Lifts over walls and fences

A standard wagon stops at the kerb. The Hiab reaches up and over to land the load exactly where you want it. Patio, back garden, far side of the property.

02

Loads itself

No forklift needed at pickup or drop-off. We collect from suppliers with no handling gear, then place at sites with none of their own.

03

Works on soft ground

Outriggers spread the load and stabilise on gravel, mud, soft drives and rough yards. The wagon is a worksite on wheels.

04

Places, not dumps

Bagged aggregate, lintels, bricks, sand. Landed by the back door, down the side path, on the patio. Not left in a heap blocking the drive.

05

All-in-one quote

No forklift hire on top. No crane company quote on top. No separate contractors. One booking covers the whole job from depot to placement.

06

Cheaper than crane hire

When the load is too heavy or awkward to manhandle but doesn’t justify booking a 30-tonne mobile crane, the Hiab fills the gap. Often for a fraction of the cost.

07

Right rig for the job

Hooks, slings, chains, brick clamps and pallet attachments. We rig for the load, not the other way round. Hot tubs, pallets, machinery and oddly shaped kit, all handled correctly.

08

Ready to lift on arrival

Outriggers down, boom rigged, exclusion zone checked. Straight from arrival into the lift. No waiting on a separate crane crew or hired-in lift gear.

09

No subcontracting

Every job runs on our own kit, start to finish. No handing the load off to a stranger halfway down the route. Same truck, same standard, every time.

Watford Haulage

Hiab haulage. Done properly.

Watford Haulage runs a Hiab-equipped flatbed out of Hertfordshire, working UK-wide. The job we’re built for is the one where the load can’t just be tipped at the kerb. Where it has to go over a fence, down a side path, onto soft ground, or into a yard with no lift gear of its own.

Hiab-equipped

Flatbed lorry with an articulated crane mounted behind the cab. Slings, brick clamps and pallet attachments on board for whatever the load needs.

Fully insured

Goods-in-transit, public liability and motor cover in place for every load we carry. Paperwork on request.

Watford-based

Operating from 29 Raglan Gardens, Watford, WD19 4LJ. On the doorstep of the M25 and M1, so we’re moving the second the load is on.

What people say

The jobs speak for themselves.

One-tonne stone water feature into a courtyard with no vehicle access. Lifted it cleanly over the wall in one go and dropped it exactly where I marked. No damage to the planting either side.

Three sites in two days, all needing materials lifted off the kerb and placed behind boundary walls. Watford worked round our schedule, no calls about access issues, no add-on charges on the invoice.

Pulled up exactly when they said they would, dropped four tonnes of paving over the side fence onto the patio. Saved me a day of barrowing.

Common questions

Asked and answered.

What can the Hiab lift?

Most everyday haulage loads: pallets, plant, building materials, hot tubs, sheds, containers, machinery. Exact capacity depends on the load weight and how far the crane has to reach to place it. Tell us the size, weight (or your best guess) and where it needs to land, and we’ll confirm in the quote.

Do you do same-day jobs?

Around Watford and the M25 belt, often yes, depending on what is already on the schedule. Give us a call. For longer-distance same-day work, a few hours’ lead time helps.

What do you need to know to give a quote?

Pickup, drop-off, what’s being moved, rough weight if known, and any access notes: fences to lift over, soft ground, narrow drives, locked yards, time windows. We come back fast, in plain English, with clear pricing.

Can you lift over a fence or wall?

Yes. That’s most of what we do. Up to a 6ft fence is routine, often more depending on the load weight and the angle of approach. Let us know the height and the distance from where the truck can park, and we’ll confirm before we book.

Do you need any equipment on site?

No. The truck has its own crane and outriggers. You do not need a forklift, telehandler, or anyone else’s lift gear at either end of the job.

What about soft ground or rough yards?

The Hiab’s outriggers spread the load and stabilise on gravel, mud, soft drives and rough yards. If the ground’s a worry, flag it on the quote and we’ll plan the lift before we turn up.

Are you insured?

Yes. Goods-in-transit, public liability and motor cover are in place for every load we carry. Paperwork on request before the job, if you need it for your own compliance.

Where do you operate?

Based in Watford. Working anywhere on the M25 belt as standard, then out across the UK from there. Long-distance and overnight runs are routine.
