How to Prepare Your Site for a Hiab Delivery

Guides

Before we arrive: confirm the truck can park within reach of the drop-off point. We need outrigger spread (roughly 1-2m out each side) plus clear access in front and behind. If there’s a parking restriction, see whether the council allows a suspension or whether a short stop is fine.

How it works in practice

Clear the lift path: anything between where the truck parks and where the load lands needs to be clear. Branches that overhang the lift can stop the crane from slewing safely. Cars parked under the lift path need to be moved. Children, pets and pedestrians must be kept clear of the exclusion zone (a few metres around the lift).

What it means for your job

Confirm the ground: outriggers need stable ground. Hardstanding is fine. Lawn, soft soil, gravel or recently dug-up surface usually needs ground mats. Send a photo of the drop-off ahead of the job if you’re unsure. We’ll bring mats if we know they’re needed.
