What Can a Hiab Lift?

Guides

It depends on the crane’s lift-moment rating and the distance from the truck to the load. As a rule of thumb, the further out the boom extends, the less it can lift. A common road-going Hiab might lift 5 tonnes close in and around 1 tonne at maximum reach.

How it works in practice

Common loads we lift: pallets of bricks (up to about 1.5T per pallet), bagged aggregate (around 1T per bag), hot tubs (250-500kg empty), garden buildings (varies by size), mini-diggers (up to about 1.5T), generators, scissor lifts, shipping containers (subject to weight and size).

What it means for your job

Some things we won’t lift: anything beyond the crane’s rated chart, anything where the geometry forces the boom too far out for the weight, lifts over occupied buildings, lifts where the rigging isn’t safe. We will tell you up front if a job is not for our Hiab, and we will recommend an alternative.
